Why use a broker to book my private crewed charter?
Simply said, because there is no over way.
Yes, some yachts offer a direct booking, but if you don't know them, they are very hard to find online. For most of those yachts, they don't want to deal with questions, contracts and so on, so leave those tasks to the yacht brokers.
Local knowledge: Experienced brokers have in-depth knowledge of the Virgin Islands, including the different islands, activities, and hidden gems. They can match you with the perfect boat and itinerary based on your interests and budget. Which is even more true for our company, because we are based in the Virgin Islands.
Industry connections: Brokers have established relationships with various charter companies and can access a wider range of options compared to directly searching individual websites. This increases your chances of finding the ideal boat for your needs.
Customizable itineraries: Brokers can work with you to create a personalized itinerary that reflects your interests and preferences. They can handle all the planning and logistics, from booking activities and reservations to securing permits and arranging transportation.
24/7 support: During your trip, you'll have access to your broker for any questions, concerns, or changes you need to make. This peace of mind can enhance your overall experience.
Transparency and trust: Reputable brokers operate with professionalism and transparency, ensuring you receive accurate information and a smooth booking process.
Broker fees: Brokers facilitate yacht bookings and transactions, and are typically compensated by the owner through a commission.
How do I pay for my booking on the yacht?
Book a Yacht is proud to work with Yachtly Inc. for payment processing. Yachtly will send you a safe payment link with a checkout page, where you can pay with your credit card, debit card or ACH bank transfer. The checkout page can be opened either on your computer or your phone. It's that easy!
What is the best way to hand gratuity over to the crew and what is the industry standard?
The industry standard is 20% in 2024, but you are welcome to offer more if you feel like the crew exceeded your expectations. This may seem a lot but it’s the majority part of a crew’s income and it reflects a job well or very well done!
Your crew will be working 24/7 to make sure you are well taken care of during your vacation.
The gratuity is not included in your charter fee.
Is a trip insurance necessary?
Life's unpredictable, your trip shouldn't be!
Book a Yacht recommends you to buy a trip insurance.
Trip insurance shields you from unforeseen hiccups, turning vacation woes into minor bumps. Imagine: illness strikes before takeoff, flights get cancelled, or a tropical storm disrupts your paradise. Trip insurance eases the sting, covering missed expenses and unexpected costs.
Invest in peace of mind, your next adventure deserves it.
Why doesn't Book a Yacht have more than 20 yachts?
A crew or yacht will make or break your vacation.
We want you to have the best experience ever! This is our priority, and this is also why we represent only the crews and yachts that we know personally.
We have the advantage to live in the Virgin Islands, so have first hand knowledge of what happens in the yachting industry every day.
We know that our clients at Book a Yacht have higher standards, so we only represent yachts that we can recommend with certainty. Unfortunately not all yachts offered for charter on different websites, meet rigorous safety and maintenance standards which are crucial for protecting the integrity of the industry and preventing negative experiences for vacationers.

How is Book a Yacht different from other brokerages?
Our biggest advantage is that we live in the Virgin Islands. We interact with the crews and yachts on a daily basis, which allows us to build strong relationships with crew members and captains.
It helps us also develop a deep understanding of the local yachting market, gain firsthand feedback on yachts and crews and offer a personalized touch that larger, off-island brokers simply can't.
Being on the spot helps us stay ahead of industry trends and fluctuations.
We also offer a luxury private transportation from and to the aiport once you arrive in the islands for any booking over $60,000.
What is the cost of crewed yacht charters?
Crewed yacht charters in the Caribbean typically start around $3,000/person per week for smaller boats and can exceed $12,500/person or more for luxury yachts.
The price will depend on the size and age of the yacht, number of guests, type of vessel (most motor yachts do not include fuel), and some of the bigger yacht will add an APA (advanced provisionning allowance).
